### Washing soda vs. bicarb soda

Despite their similar names and appearance, they are two different chemicals. They differ in composition, pH and use. While bicarb soda or baking soda is gentle and serves not only for cleaning but also for baking, washing soda, sometimes referred to as heavy soda, cannot be consumed at all. It is ideal for washing, stain removal and odour neutralisation. Compared to baking soda, it is stronger.

 
### Safety recommendations

Washing soda is strongly alkaline, so we recommend wearing gloves for prolonged handling. Store out of reach of children and pets. Avoid contact with the eyes, rinse thoroughly with water in case of contact.

It is used for washing, water softening and household cleaning.

Washing

Add 1-2 tablespoons (approx. 15-30 g) per wash cycle directly to the washing machine drum or detergent compartment. For greater efficiency, you can combine washing soda with soap flakes or eco-friendly washing powder.

Removal of stubborn stains

For heavy dirt, make a paste of water and soda, apply to the stain, leave for 15 minutes and then wash.

Household cleaning

Cleaning the kitchen: Dissolve 2 tablespoons of soda in 1 litre of warm water and use to remove grease from the oven, stove or sink.

Clogged drains: Pour 3-4 tablespoons of soda into the drain, pour hot water and leave it to work. You can combine with vinegar for a better effect.

Removing odours from textiles: Add ½ cup of soda to the washing powder in the washing machine or leave clothes soaking in soda water overnight.

Cleaning the bathroom: Mix baking soda with water into a paste, apply it to the grout or bathtub, let it sit, and then rinse off.
