Rosemary also Rosemary officinalis (//Rosmarinus officinalis//) is a perennial herb native to the Mediterranean growing to a height of one metre. The resulting essential oil is extracted from the leaves by a gentle process called steam distillation.

During this extraction, CO2 is kept in a supercritical (liquid) state, which allows it to dissolve substances without chemical reactions. This innovative process of obtaining essential oil is very gentle, as the extraction takes place at low temperatures. The resulting essential oil is therefore perfectly pure and has a more active fragrance.

Rosemary essential oil is a natural cocktail of hundreds of biologically active substances. However, the substances called 1,8 Cineole (Eucalyptol), Camphor and α-pinene are considered to be the main ones.

Herb of memories The name rosemary is derived from the Latin words "ros" and "marinus" translated "sea dew", referring to the fact that it grows on rocky coastlines. In Ancient Greece and Rome it was considered sacred protecting against evil spirits, moths and various diseases. [5]
