### Kanuka, Manuka and tea tree

Kanuka (//Kunzea ericoides//) is a tree native to New Zealand. Botanically it is related to a woody plant from a similar area, Manuka (//Leptospermum scoparium//). Both yield essential oils that are, however, completely different in composition. Yet these oils are often combined together. Kanuka is closer to the Australian tea tree in its properties, and is also often called white tea tree. However, compared to tea tree, Kanuka is less sharp and does not irritate the skin as much.

### Note

Pay close attention to the storage conditions of this essential oil. It requires a dry and dark environment, otherwise it tends to oxidize quickly, in which case it can cause a sensitive reaction.
