Cocoa contains a unique ratio of theobromine and caffeine, which acts as a gentle stimulant with a more gradual and longer-lasting effect than, for example, coffee. At the same time, it will lift your mood, boost your mental freshness and spark your creativity - try to enjoy it before you start creating.
In the medicine of traditional peoples, cacao is used to support immunity and normal digestion, against bites or insect stings, to facilitate recovery, childbirth or breastfeeding. Refreshes in old age and stimulates desire.
For the production of our cocoa, we use only the best, carefully harvested cocoa beans from organic farming, which have been very gently processed in accordance with the principles of raw diet, at a temperature of up to 42 °C. We produce it in small batches right here at BEWIT.
### Benefits
### Cocoa - the precious food of the gods
The true cacao tree (//Theobroma cacao//) is a tree native to tropical parts of South America. Today it is widespread throughout the tropical belt, widely cultivated in Africa (Ivory Coast, Ghana, Cameroon and others). Its name means "food of the gods". The fruits are pods about 30 cm long that contain seeds called cocoa beans inside. And it is from them that cocoa is produced, a raw material popular all over the world.
Ceremonial cocoa is designed for meditation ceremonies and rituals, whether by this ritual you mean a morning moment to yourself with a cup of the delicious drink, or special cocoa circles. We make it with love from quality cocoa beans in organic quality, which have undergone gentle processing to preserve the maximum of beneficial substances in them.
Cocoa ceremonies originated in the 1990s in the context of the New Age movement. They loosely follow the traditions of Central American civilizations such as the Maya and Aztecs. For them, cacao was a sacred and ritualistic ingredient. It was expensive, therefore it was only accessible to selected high-ranking men and it was also used as currency.
The cocoa mass consists exclusively of ground cocoa beans. It can be used pure, e.g. as ceremonial cocoa, or used as raw material for further processing, e.g. for chocolate. It is made from cocoa mass, which is tempered and supplemented with sugar or other added ingredients.
### Method of use
Ceremonial cocoa is traditionally prepared as a hot drink. Cut the cocoa with a ceramic knife into smaller pieces and pour the desired amount of water, or vegetable milk or herbal or spice decoction.
The liquid you pour over the cocoa should be at a temperature of 70 to 80°C to preserve as much of the beneficial substances as possible. Use a mortar and pestle (a traditional Mexican molinillo if you have one), a matcha whisk or an immersion blender to melt it while creating a rich foam.
Cocoa is traditionally prepared with intention, in a space cleansed with heating agents (palo santo, white sage, copal, etc.), in the presence of the element of fire and music.
### Dosage
For 200 ml of drink you will need:
- For beginners, children, and those who prefer a milder-tasting drink: 15-20 g
- For cocoa full of flavour: 20–34 g
- Ceremonial dose: 34–44 g
- Generally recommended maximum daily dose: 50 g
Stick to the recommended maximum daily dose, as it is possible to overdose on cocoa. An overdose may cause symptoms such as headaches, a racing heartbeat, and hand tremors. When drinking cocoa, always stay well hydrated, as it has diuretic properties.

### Recommended storage
Store in a dry and dark place. Ideally at a temperature between 14-18 °C, up to a maximum of 24 °C, protect against temperature fluctuations. Once opened, store in a tightly sealed container - food moths love cocoa.
### Warning
This product does not have a powdery consistency, it is a solid mass, which must be chopped or grated before use. This is not tempered chocolate. Fat and sugar blooms are natural, they are not a defect.
Due to the theobromine and caffeine content in combination, the effects of which can last up to 7 hours, we recommend drinking cocoa rather in the morning.
Persons with low blood pressure and pregnant and lactating women and young children should indulge in cocoa with caution, or consult a physician.
